Climate change is happening now. Urgent action is needed to limit its impacts. We’re working to be part of the solution - both in how we invest and how we operate as a company.

The challenge

Our climate is changing. Around the world, we are seeing rising temperatures and a dramatic increase in extreme weather events. Addressing climate change is a huge undertaking. However, it is also creating compelling opportunities for industry, enterprise and investors to be part of the solution.

The opportunity
At abrdn, we are committed to help tackle climate change – for our clients, shareholders and future generations. We believe that investing in transition leaders and climate solutions that can help transform our world, together with active engagement, provides us with a clear opportunity to deliver strong outcomes for our clients, and help the world on its path to net zero carbon emissions.
Our commitment
Change starts here. We’re proud to be a signatory to the Net Zero Asset Manager Initiative, which informs our investment approach. At COP26, we announced our ambitious target to reduce the carbon intensity of our assets by 50% by 2030 against a 2019 baseline. We also pledge to reduce our own operational carbon footprint by reaching net zero by 2040. We have committed to reducing emissions from energy use by 50% by 2025, procure 100% renewable electricity for our buildings, and offset those emissions we have yet to eliminate.
Net Zero Directed Investing
Many companies and countries across the globe have committed to working towards a net-zero 2050 goal to tackle the climate crisis. This goal is critical for our planet, and, as investors, we have an important role to play in achieving it. That’s why abrdn has joined the Net Zero Asset Managers (NZAM) initiative.

Net zero

We are committed to playing a constructive role in the decarbonisation of the global economy and serving the long-term interests of our clients. We are proud to be a signatory of the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative, with a dedicated focus on financing the transition to a low-carbon economy.

abrdn has developed a bespoke approach to climate scenario analysis, that integrates the macro and micro drivers of climate impacts on asset prices within a probabilistic framework.
